Women in Egypt – how the status of women in Egypt changed during the Ptolemaic Period

This dissertation will thus attempt to shed light on the question of how and if the status of women changed in Ptolemaic Egypt during the Hellenistic period. The women in question will be both of the native Egyptian population and of the Graeco-Macedonian upper class who migrated toEgypt along with the early Ptolemaic dynasty (and who continued tomigrate to Egypt throughout the Hellenistic period).

The Greek Achievement: The Birth of Classicism

This article is based on a lecture delivered at the The Greeks Institute, a series of lectures presented to secondary school teachers in the Bridgeport Public Schools during the spring of 1989. Co-sponsored by the Connecticut Humanities Council, Sacred Heart University, and the Bridgeport Public Schools, the purpose of the institute has been to provide teachers with an interdisciplinary exploration of classical Greece for the purposes of professional enrichment and curriculum development.
